As employers continue to look for ways to S save money on providing benefits to their employees, the "carve-out" strategy has come back to the forefront. Carve out is a strategy that takes certain aspects of the employee benefits offering and segregates it, and has a separate vendor, plan design and contract than the underlining plan. In the past, this strategy has been used successfully with prescription drug, mental health and vision benefits.
