John Flaherty, CLU

John oversees the health and welfare employee benefit strategy for Longfellow’s largest clients. He works with clients’ senior management and HR teams to thoroughly understand their culture and how employee benefits are perceived. He collaborates closely with HR to enhance efficiencies and help design the overall health and welfare strategy to accomplish short and long term results. Internally, John is a leader with a strong slant on supporting the Longfellow culture and providing expertise in financial modeling, communication and wellness offerings. John also focuses on business development and advancing the Longfellow brand in the marketplace.
Prior to joining Longfellow in October 1999, John worked in Key Account Sales at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, as and an underwriter for Pilgrim Health Care, and an actuarial analyst for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. John earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Finance from Norwich University, and has an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from Northeastern University. He holds his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation and is an adjunct faculty member at Northeastern University where he has taught accounting, business, and risk management classes.
John is proud of the positive energy at Longfellow exhibited by associates and thrives on the professional stimulation that he gets working with his clients and business partners.
