Resources for Employers to Provide to Employees Who Are Laid Off

MassHealth - For parents with children under 19 years old; disabled adults; pregnant women; people with HIV. Eligibility varies depending on income, age and family status; roughly $63,600 annually for a family of four. 1-800-841-2900. www.massresources.org/masshealth_d.html

Commonwealth Care - Subsidized coverage for adults age 19 or older who are not eligible for other state-provided health insurance. Must be earning less than 300 percent of the federal poverty level. 1-877-623-6765. ma.healthconnector.org

Medical Security Program - For residents who are receiving unemployment benefits. Pays up to 80 percent of a laid-off worker's COBRA monthly insurance premium. Income eligibility: less than roughly $84,800 for a family of four. 1-800-908-8801. www.mass.gove/dua/msp

Commonwealth Choice - For adults who don't qualify for subsidies, there are name brand insurance plans with prices and benefits negotiated by the state that can be cheaper than COBRA. No income eligibility limits. 1-877-623-6765 www.mahealthconnector.org
